kathy(kate) chris and myself headed down to rockford, il

to find holiday treasures at mary's shop 

urban farmgirl.

she did not disappoint. 

we had a great time.

spent quite awhile browsing as there is so much to see -

 it's hard to leave.

we made quite a few trips around the shop,

mary laughingly said "your still here" on our maybe 5th or 6th trip around!

sorry for the not so good photos, my camera went kind of goofy

 and i had to take photos without seeing what i 

was shooting at.

and she said the phone was ringing off the hook, they were selling like crazy.

shop small, big antique mall

my soon to be daughter-in-law invited me to spend the day with her, her mom, sister and niece at the columbus antique mall - so nice of them to invite me. 

we had a great time. 

it was the first time they had been there, just a little overwhelming for them but they enjoyed seeing so many things they remember from back in the day.

  saturday was shop small day and and even though it was a big antique mall, it's made up of many booths so in reality we shopped many small shops.

julie's neice was the best little shopper,

she was such a trooper, singing and skipping her way

around the antique mall.

i even ran into my sister's sister-in-law at the antique mall.  she lives about an hour and half away and i have only met her a couple times, but she looked familar and i had to ask - nice to see you diane!

i didn't get many photos, i actually took these before everyone arrived -

too busy having fun.

i thought the beaded set above was cute,

 nice price!

the year without green bean casserole

note to self -

do not clean your oven the day before expecting company for a holiday dinner.

a sensor went out causing the oven to think the cleaning process is still on and inturn the oven door is locked - tight.

thank goodness the local ace hardware had a nesco in stock.

but alas - no green bean casserole, two corn casserole or apple pie.

good thing my sister-in-law was bringing a pumpkin pie. 

just had to show you my husband's creative beverage station : )

last summer, i picked up this letter made from a book at the cute shop, "poppins" on mackinaw island.

here's a pic of the letters in the shop.

i was trolling anthropologie the other day (love looking at the displays) 
and what did i find but letters made from books.

the exact same item, but a higher price. 

i just took a peak at etsy and there are a quite a few shops that sell similar letters

at a variety of prices.

I went to one of my favorite resale shops on saturday.

 it's out of town but worth the drive as i always find some fun stuff at great prices. 

 this trip seemed to have a winter theme.

love this scarf it's pink and jadite green 

two perfect colors.

didn't pick-up the fireplace at the thrift shop, i took it home with me from our sale at the elkhorn flea market last may.

 it was my flea market buddy kathy's and 

it could have been yours!

no takers, so lucky me. 

retro snowpants - has to be from the 40-50's.

who knows maybe my uncles wore something similar 

ski-jumping.

we had a player piano growing up.

loved it.

if i ever win the lottery it will be a must buy.

we stopped in at my sister and brother-in-laws home this last weekend, and was greated by sue's cute halloween display.

that isn't my broom by the way..... 

inside sue showed me her handy solution to a mudroom when you don't have a mudroom.

how cool is this. 

she put a shoe rack inside a vintage trunk to keep shoes organized handy and out of site.

i don't think i have seen this 

in the blogosphere. 

so i had to share.

it was meant to be, as she found this single toy shoe (can you see it -sorry it's a bit blurry) in the trunk.

coffee's on

i went to a local thrift shop the other day and this enamal pot caught my eye. 

 it was a good price, good condition and you can't go wrong with anything that has a mushroom on it, well you can.... but i brought it home anyway.

 when i got home i realized it is the same shape as 

catherine holm coffee pots.

it's definately not the 

lotus pattern, and i have never seen this pattern before. 

i did a little looking on etsy and ebay 

and there is a tea kettle in the same pattern on ebay 

and they are calling it catherine holm.

definately need to do more research and

see if my find is a find.

last sunday was the last elkhorn flea market of the year.

so sad.

it was a beautiful day, i overdressed, kind of pooped out fast....

so i didn't make it all the way around.

need to go flea market boot camp.
