sweet temptation

hello!  hope you all had a nice weekend.
i was able to get out to my first citywide garage sale and came home with a few
treasures.

unfortunately the above item was not one of them.
this wasn't for sale at a garage sale, but it was for sale at an antique
store in town.

how fun would this be to use in a kitchen remodel.
you could store your cute dishes and glasses,
store baking supplies and cookbooks.
so many possibilities.

now if i could only come up with the perfect reason to
buy it.

gone camping

it's the middle of winter, so it's no better time
 to think about camping.

i was wandering a local antique store and came upon
this cute little pink coleman stove.
it was on sale so i snatched it up.
it actually had one can of lp gas in it.
i went back to get the box,
and when i came back the guy actually turned
the knob (not sure why) and it hissed.
made me nervous, and i told him i really didn't want the gas can.
he took it out.

time to map out some camping fun.

working weekend

i told rick i had to go to work last weekend,
he sort of had a chuckle.

this last weekend i did go to the office,
actually the office at the
to further my studies on all things antiques.
we went up north to the farm and made a quick stop at
keri from meadowview farm and her husband were working.
they are so nice, the epitome of good folks.

here's a couple pics from keri's booth

would have luv'd this - (wasn't in keri's booth)
but a bit pricey.

i did purchase something, not sure if i will show the item - as you may think what in the world???

also managed a quick stop at odana antique mall on sunday,
it was a very busy working weekend : )
a few snippets below from odana.

shop small, big antique mall

my soon to be daughter-in-law invited me to spend the day with her, her mom, sister and niece at the columbus antique mall - so nice of them to invite me.
we had a great time.
it was the first time they had been there, just a little overwhelming for them but they enjoyed seeing so many things they remember from back in the day.
saturday was shop small day and and even though it was a big antique mall, it's made up of many booths so in reality we shopped many small shops.
julie's neice was the best little shopper,
she was such a trooper, singing and skipping her way
around the antique mall.
i even ran into my sister's sister-in-law at the antique mall.  she lives about an hour and half away and i have only met her a couple times, but she looked familar and i had to ask - nice to see you diane!
i didn't get many photos, i actually took these before everyone arrived -
too busy having fun.
i thought the beaded set above was cute,
 nice price!

whooo whooo!

had a fun halloween?

this cute scene is by Kari from Meadowview Farm.  She has a booth and case at the Hixton Antique Mall  (the previous home of the cutest pink typewriter ever).

she also has a great barn sale at her farm which we ran into by chance a few years ago.

long or short story - she came to a garage sale that i had years ago.   we chatted and i found out she had a booth that i always checked out whenever i was at the columbus antique mall.   anywho, fast forward a few more years, i was at the antique mall and in her booth she had a note saying she was closing up and moving up north, needless to say i was bummed.  fast forward a couple years again we were at my parents up north and my mom and i went to an antique store. while there we found out about a barn sale going on.  we headed over and luck be had it was Kari's barn.  she recognized me from the garage sale i had due to vintage tablecloths i had hung to hide ugly garage stuff.   so happy that she is back in business at Hixton.

haunted shopping

this building could be the perfect place for a haunted house, but instead it is a building full of treats.

not sure what this building was origonally built for, but now it houses vintage and retro items, 6,000 ft worth!  but only a small portion is open for shopping.

approaching the entrance and seeing this in the window i figured good things were ahead.

they had painted this mod entrance a few years ago and i had always wondered what was in the building, never saw any life, now we know.  area 51 vintage is the main biz here, oodles and scads is the other.  they will be having another sale in November, hope i can make it.

this way to cool vintage.

who doesn't need a few waves.

love this desk, there was a whole groovy yellow bedroom set available, mixed in behind other vintage items.

a lovely red vinyl couch.

would love to know where this originally came from.

what a lovely chair, other than the fabric, i can see it in off white fabric with brass nail heads? wood painted black?  or not?

sold. where there's a will there's a way.

at least somebody likes it, hum but this is the reason we are chair shopping.

boo!

vintage door county - part 2

heading up to door county we went thru algoma, a very cute town along lake michigan.

we ran into this fun antique store - dodge antiques. their info online states:
"If you need something and cannot find it here, email or call, Tom can find it for you.  He is very "hands on" in restoration, consignment and display of a very unique collection of many antiques."
good to know and by checking out the store i am pretty sure they can find whatever you are looking for.

they have everything including a sweet jadite bathroom sink!

oreo martini anyone?

i'm mad about mad men.
I stopped at the odana antiques mall yesterday, needed some fun before losing 2 hours wandering the aisles at the grocery store.

we only have a couple antique spots in town.  but things are looking up as there are a few new fun stops outside of town that require a short drive into the countryside.  gracies cottage just opened a both at the waterloo antique mall and calamity janes in lake mills is a fun place to visit.

one booth that i always check out is "vintage pattis"  at the odana antiques mall, she always has nice vintage retro items and some on the nicest, fun and very clean vintage clothing.  she happened to be there stocking up and she we were chit chatting about the clothes.  she mentioned she bought out a few vintage clothing shops before they left their home in california.  i asked her where in california and she said they lived in long beach,  i told her i grew up in long beach : )   small world.  she was so nice, you could tell she loved having her booth.  now to the oreo martini - she was handing these mini "martinis" out in honor of the return of mad men and oreo's 100th birthday.  how cute!  i only ate one of the mini oreo's before i got home to take the photo : )
