eek!

is it too early to decorate for halloween?

we'll we have to get ready for our grandson.

ok, he's only 5 months old. 

but hey, by oct. 31st

 he'll be almost 7 months old!

meant to be

i was out running errands saturday and stopped in at one of

the resale shops that i visit from time to time.

the shop is a business that buys out estate sales and 

they are only open

saturdays from ten to noon. 

crazy hours.

but they are also open other days for special sales.

right in the front entry as you came into the shop was this vintage display piece.

it was very framilar. 

i had actually seen it at an estate sale about a month ago.

it was in the basement, which was a little dark and

i didn't know if i could take it apart.

so i passed on it, begrudgingly.

so it was meant to be, it had to come home with me.

it comes apart very easily.

for the meantime it will live in my craft room, until i have room

in the antique booth.

where i will once again use it for a dispay piece :)

i break for tomatoes

 on my biking route around town, i pass a business that has a little 

tomato plot in front of their shop.

free for the picking!

i stopped to pick a few while waiting for ours to ripen.

 a great way to enjoy them is with cottage cheese, 
and a little salt and pepper.

we are in wisconsin after all.......

august elkhorn

he's back!

a a ron rodgers came back to the 

elkhorn flea market.

needed a little break before the pre-season game 

this thursday.

he's not the only big cheese at the 

flea market.

the madison mayor was checking out the deals.

barbie was of barbie's evil twin,

this can of glass wax would make me want to clean!

you can't tell by this pic but these are vintage child size chairs.

i have never seen the real deal, child size.

i showed this photo to a friend and she said

she remembered sitting in the eames chair on the right at her dentist when she was little.

i was thinking i need to shop for a new dentist............

this was my big find.

it's an old aluminum halliburton case.

my dad worked at the company 

when we lived in california.

if you see any spy/espionage movies,

they ususally are carrying their spy gear in a case from halliburton. 

one of my all time favorite movies, 

rear window, with jimmy stewart

has a scene with one and i am sure it was made when

 my dad was there : )

my parents still have their set of haliburton luggage

 and still use it when traveling.

it's gotten a few dings 

since the traveling days as a youngster with my parents 

on route 66. 

things are pretty exciting around here

what lurks in this cabinet???

well, we lost power this morning for a few hours,

  not much else to do during that time

so i thought i would organize something.

 i picked an easy item.....

 cupcake toppers!

and other fun baking novelties.

hope you all stay awake as you read this......so exciting.

but basically everything was a combined and a mess, so 

i gathered glass jars to sort some of the items out.
