time for good 'ol wisconsin fish frys.

my ode to local establishments where you can enjoy friday night fish frys.

one of my favorite places for fish is "the old fashion" in madison.  the decor is full of beer advertisement.  note tv in this ad.

i found a similar one a few years ago.

faux flowers

wanted: spring.

spring and flowers are going to be awhile yet, more snow coming thursday night.

so the next best thing to do is bring out a little spring color complete with badly drawn flowers.

in the same life magazine that had featured louis it also had a some great ads.  i love the old magazine ads.

this tv dinner ad is one of my favorites. my sister and i would get tv dinners when had a babysitter and our parents would go out for the eve. i think my go to tv dinner was salisbury steak.  it kind of depended on the dessert though. 

there are always lots of car ads in the old magazines.  our neighbors had a rambler, loved riding in the back - oh how times have changed.

of course in the old magazines there were also lots 
of cigarette ads - 

tab - the worst diet pop ever! the end.

how happy was i when i came across this LIFE magazine. i am a huge fan of louis armstrong, and when he and ella sang together, priceless. 

 and when i opened the magazine up...........

 shoo-doo-shoo-bee-ooo-bee!

 life size louis appeared, how fun is this.

love this pic of him - looks like he's singing in the backyard.  can you imagine if you were his neighbor! 

i think he gave a good show, what do you think?
