am i nuts?

for buying this at nellie's barn sale?
i couldn't resist,
too funny.

i was able to tag along with angie (aka camper whisperer) and her sister cheryl to the show saturday.
there were about 55 vendors, perfect fall day.

i enjoyed seeing booths from local vintage shops.
there were a few that i haven't come across
such as vintage birch barn, just south of madison.

lunchtime entertainment.

now to the vintage campers -
here's one of angie's three vintage campers,
"daisy"
so cute, and even cuter
with her new vintage laundry cart
from nellie's barn sale.

here's the 16, daisy's mother

and here's the stylish "boles areo" camper.
she found all three campers in the last 2 years.
lucky!
camper whisperer!

the end

to a fun day.
i took friday off to hit the new glarus city wide garage sales.  new glarus ("america's little switzerland" and home to the new glarus brewery - famous for it's spotted cow brew) is a cute little town about 30 miles south of madison.  many years ago my friend kathy/kate and i had an antique booth in town, started it right when gas price went sky high and folks stopped venturing out for sunday drives so timing wasn't the best.  anywho, thought i would take advantage a beautiful summer day and venture south and visit the old neighborhood.
on the way out of town i hit a few garage sales in madison and found the coolest vintage screen.

packs up in this handy case

pull the cord up

and ta-dah - it snaps in place and you are good to go.

not sure how old it is, the company is still in business.

knew i was going to have a fun day when this was one of the 1st things i saw on my garage sale adventure.

not for sale though.........

summer at elkhorn

my friend jennifer came along with me to see what elkhorn is all about.
i think she was overwhelmed at all the treasures : )
the weather was beautiful, perfect actually.

i noticed a theme from the photos that i took at elkhorn -they are all pretty much of vintage signs.
surprise, suprise.

this sign still available, saw it last summer - bit pricey but love it.

here's one of the few non-sign photos that i took at elkhorn.

of course it would be of a vintage camper.

a teeny tiny camper.

how cute would this be made into a kids playhouse!!!

big treasures

it's time!

how cool is the garage sale map cover. the artist is John R. Sargent
(not to be confused with john singer sargent, one of my favorites)
He is selling prints and greeting cards of the cover and proceeds of sales purchased may 9-11 benefit the W.E.B. Food Pantry.
how nice is that.

i had a little luck in todays hunt, guess you could say big.....luck.

no not this, darn.  i tried. the husband would like to sell it but the wife doesn't want to.....humm.

but at the same place i found.......

this

and this. (not the wheels)

think life size postcards.
they weren't sure of their history.  someone thought they were in a neighborhood bar back in the day.
the photos look like they were taken in the wisconsin dells area.
would love to know the history.

day one off to a great start.  back at it tomorrow.

wish me big luck.
