found this beaut at the columbus antique mall.

a new, never used buddy L grill.

i think it's from the 60's, early 70's.

i don't think brats or burgers will ever hit this grill.

hope to keep it nice,

maybe use it for a potted geranium.

more good things about columbus to come.

i picked it up at a garage sale 

last weekend.

crazy purchase?

crazy yes, but i like it, not sure what i will do with it.

it would be great in a 40's bathroom,

mudroom, vintage kitchen.....

or a book & stationery store.

coffee's on

i went to a local thrift shop the other day and this enamal pot caught my eye. 

 it was a good price, good condition and you can't go wrong with anything that has a mushroom on it, well you can.... but i brought it home anyway.

 when i got home i realized it is the same shape as 

catherine holm coffee pots.

it's definately not the 

lotus pattern, and i have never seen this pattern before. 

i did a little looking on etsy and ebay 

and there is a tea kettle in the same pattern on ebay 

and they are calling it catherine holm.

definately need to do more research and

see if my find is a find.

on our way to mackinac island we stopped at the

washington street antique mall in 
manitowoc, wisconsin.

what is that blaring light in the back?

a pink aluminum christmas tree!

and not for sale......but i found one....

not that i could afford it.......

most aluminum christmas trees were produced in manitowoc, wisconsin 

by the aluminum specialty company

 back in the day.

the owner of the antique stores said you'd think it would be easy to find aluminum christmas trees in town, but they aren't. 

 she did have 15 trees at one time,

now she buys them on ebay.  

i just saw a pink tree listed on ebay for $2,999!

needless to say this one was not for sale either.

i have never heard/seen of this type of tree -

a peacock tree.  

it is flat, just branches on 2 sides.

i emailed a "few" favorite finds back when  flea market style blogged about fav finds and they picked my souvenirs sign!!!

i didn't hear anything back after i had emailed, so i didn't think my finds were much of anything : )

they might of thought i was a stalker and wanted to cut off all communications....

to my surprise, 

my sister donna's sister-in-law (correct grammar?) diane

commented on my previous post "table for two" (thanks again diane)

and asked if that was me in the flea market style mag fav find.

i wasn't able to pick up the magazine yet,and had no clue.

my latest thrifty find

a coleman folding aluminum hi-stand

look at what fun they are having just because they have a

here it is - un-folded

it is pretty unstable as is, so rick made a top for it,

painted it red and we are good to go.

time to check the map

i finally found it. 

 i have been on the look out for this betty crocker cook book but they are crazy expensive, not sure why. 

 it is in really bad shape, but for a buck at a garage sale, what the heck i splurged.

as you can see it is what my friend denise calls

"well loved"  it was grama ruth's cookbook given to her by krissy in 1964.

 i am finding fun items in the cookbook that were added by ruth and makes this cookbook worth more than one of those expensive vintage ones. 

bonus! 

 the best-ever lemon pie recipe given to ann landers by a cab driver in new york.

how cool is the garage sale map cover. the artist is John R. Sargent. 

 (not to be confused with john singer sargent, one of my favorites)

He is selling prints and greeting cards of the cover and proceeds of sales purchased may 9-11 benefit the W.E.B. Food Pantry.

i had a little luck in todays hunt, guess you could say big.....luck.

no not this, darn.  i tried. the husband would like to sell it but the wife doesn't want to.....humm.

would love to know the history.

good and plenty

a few weeks ago i found a board game that i didn't know existed.

the choo-choo charlie game. 

 i remember the commercial you can see it on youtube. i have had many boxes of good and plenty in my day but i never knew there was a game.  

magpie ethel just posted her great collection of board games, so i thought i would post my latest find.  my collection is nowhere near hers, maybe a total of 3 - candy land, the barbie game and now choo choo charlie.  i am having a hard time finding anyone that has heard of choo choo charlie.  maybe it was a west coast thing?

a box of good and plenty candy was not only a great candy but an interactive one also.  we use to shake the box back and forth to make the "choo choo" sound and then when it was empty you could make the sound of the train whistle by blowing thru the empty box.  

below are the other characters, but i am having a hard time finding their names.
