you should be dancing

here's my latest find.

i found it at a garage sale last week.
you knew it had to be a good sale when they had a
vintage vw van in the driveway.
I have never seen one of these before but it hypnotized me
and said take me home when it spun around.

the folks having the sale had to be in their late 70's early 80's and the lady said
they used it with a color wheel.
a color wheel for aluminum christmas trees???
 soooooo....
is it from the 60's?
i can't find anything info on it so far.
it's plastic and comes apart at the middle
and the inside looks like the outside,
just much more shiny.
any ideas anyone?

i keep calling it a disco ball.
but i am wondering if it
is some kind of
holiday decoration.

need to ask the
disco ball.......

chritstmas in august

i picked up this peg board at a restore store yesterday.
2 bucks.
love the patina and thought it would make a cool
background for the holidays.

true to form i had some twinkle lights hanging
on the previous display
and i put them back
on the pegboard and plugged it in
and they wouldn't light!

only
4 months until
christmas!

evergleam

sorry i know christmas is over,
but our local historical museum has an
exhibit of aluminum christmas trees
and my friend denise and i
stopped by to see what is all about.

the historical society says
it is the states largest collection of classic 1960's aluminum christmas trees.
i bet there is some collector out there
that has more :)

here is the coveted pink aluminum tree.

don't have a pink tree, you can make
 a silver one pink
with a pink
canned light as above.

we headed up to the 2nd and 3rd floors looking for more trees,
but they were only on the first floor.
we did however get a nice view of
the capitol square.

here's a pic of the street on the square to the left of the photo above.
sorry for the glare.

here it is today.
blah, blah, blah.

we noticed a faded sign on the building that is in the previous photo from the 50's.....
do you see it -
barons, department store.

a small remembrance of the good old days.

dad-gum-it

last sunday was the last elkhorn flea market of the year.
so sad.

it was a beautiful day, i overdressed, kind of pooped out fast....
so i didn't make it all the way around.

need to go flea market boot camp.

here are a few photos from the day.

and here he is.
first time i found hippie tom's booth

hot dog!
i don't think this is an old sign.

but if you have a hot dog,
you need a pickle.
a huge pickle.

love this sign.
it will be a long winter, until
 the next elkhorn flea market.
