my latest thing

engineer prints!

i finally tried them.
they are so fun and you can try a few and not spend big bucks.
i sent my photos to Staples and they do say not suitable for photographs, not sure why.
i think they work fine.

this is the second time i sent this photo in, tried to make it a
bit more less dark.

 this was the first try.
second one looks a bit better.
i am not a professional photographer by any means,
 but with engineer prints
they kind of have a look of their own and you can call your
prints as being "artsy".

i am hooked!

please disregard the lamp cord, and focus on the pretty picture : )

no grits at the pig

rick and i took a quick trip to florida
last week.
destination - st augustine, the oldest city in the US,
founded in 1565.
it wasn't exactly warm while we were there, but much warmer than
what wisconsin experience that week.

below are a few pics from the trip, and to come a few photos
of a side trip we took to savannah, ga.

half the fun of taking trips is eating local and we tried grits at a
spot in st. augustine, Harry's and they were wonderful.
now rick is determined to make them.
after we got back i went to the local piggly wiggly to purchase grits
but alas they don't stock grits.
will have to try another grocer or it's back to florida we go.

we'll i tried

back in the day when my family lived in california
we would take road trips to wisconsin
to visit my mom's side of the family.
(one trip was in a red vw bug - all 4 of us -
thru the desert
over the mountains, farmlands etc. to wisconsin)

one of my favorite memories
was eating watermelon pickles at the family picnics.
i wrote down my grandma's recipe many many years ago
and this year i finally tried it!
and guess what - they tasted terrible!
not sure what i did but they did not taste like the
watermelon pickles i remember.

oh well, at least the jars sealed and no explosions happened.

it was a good learning experience.
hopefully i won't wait as long to try again.

enjoying vintage treasures of the northwoods.
